Mission & History



Welcome to the Dacotah Bank Center, where we proudly bring you "Midwest Hospitality at Its Best!" Since 2001, we’ve been Brookings' premier hub for live entertainment. Our 30,000-square-foot arena, elegant banquet and conference rooms, and in-house catering make us the top destination for cultural, educational, and recreational events. Owned by the City of Brookings and operated by Oak View Group, we are committed to providing exceptional service and unforgettable experiences. Whether you're here for a concert, planning a wedding, or attending a conference, we promise a warm welcome and excellent service.

Our Vision

At the Dacotah Bank Center, we aim to deliver exceptional experiences through our diverse events. We host everything from live concerts and sporting events to banquets, meetings, and conventions. Our core values include being open, honest, responsible, ethical, and accountable, treating each other with respect, continuously improving our services, fostering open communication, and inspiring others to reach their full potential.


Our History Highlights

  • 2001: We opened our doors as the Brookings Area Multiplex, Inc., later renamed the Swiftel Center.
  • 2002: Hosted our first national touring concert with Travis Tritt.
  • 2010: Celebrated our first sold-out concert with Jason Aldean and special guest Luke Bryan.
  • 2011: Welcomed our one-millionth guest and marked our 10th anniversary.
  • 2013-2014: Hosted major headlining tours with Florida Georgia Line and Jake Owen.
  • 2015: Awarded the Venue Excellence Award by the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM).
  • 2017: Achieved the largest concert audience of 5,619 with Thomas Rhett's "Home Team" tour.
  • 2021: Oak View Group began operating the center.
  • 2023: Entered a new naming rights partnership with Dacotah Bank, transitioning to the Dacotah Bank Center.
